3 Most Anticipated Releases of 2016

Greetings Twin Reads readers! Welcome to post number one here on Twin Reads. Since this will, hopefully, be the first post of many to come, I thought what better topic for the first post on Twin Reads than what books are coming in 2016? So, I’m going to let you guys in on a little secret and tell you the books that I am most looking forward to this year. Maybe you’re eagerly anticipating the same titles as me. Maybe you’re thinking, “What in the world is Meg talking about here? I’ve never heard of any of these books.” Well good! I hope that this post will point you in the direction of some new books that ignite your interest and curiosity! Now lets jump into the list!

NOTE: These titles are in no particular order; I’m not any more excited for the first book than I am for the last. (It would just be too hard to try and rank these exciting upcoming releases!) Here we go!

#1 Lady Midnight by Cassandra Clare

25494343Cassandra Clare is a prolific author in the Young Adult genre. She has already written two other series–The Mortal Instruments series and its prequel series, The Infernal Devices. Now, right away I’m going to recommend that you read these books. They are utterly brilliant!

Lady Midnight marks the first book of a new series by Cassandra Clare. This series being the Dark Artifices. Planned as a trilogy, The Dark Artifices are set in the same world as Clare’s past two series– the world of the Shadowhunters. The Shadowhunters are part angel and part human and their duty is to protect the human world from demons– demons “mundanes,”or humans, cannot even see. Lady Midnight is the story of a confident young Shadowhunter named Emma Carstairs who is eager to discover who, or what, killed her parents and avenge their deaths.

Clare has said that none of her series need to be read in order to understand the others. So, give Lady Midnight a go! Or you can start with the others. I can almost guarantee that you will love this dark, mysterious world full of demons, fairies, vampires, werewolves and any other supernatural creature you can think of!

#2 A Court of Mist and Fury by Sarah J. Maas

17927395
Sarah J. Maas is also an author that is no rookie to the YA community. Currently she is writing her now four-book, New York Times Bestselling, Throne of Glass series as well as her new series A Court of Thorns and Roses.

ACOMAF, as this novel is so fondly referred to by its fandom, is the second book in the A Court of Thorns and Roses series– a series which centers around a young woman named Feyre. Feyre lives in a world of two races– the human and the fae. The wold is split among the two, and humans live in fear of the powerful, magical, and immortal fae. A loose retelling of Beauty and the Beast, A Court of Thorns and Roses follows Feyre as she finds herself held captive in the home of a powerful faerie named Tamlin within the dangerous lands of the fae. The series follows Feyre’s journey as she tries to save her world, and the world of the fae, from an unknown, evil, and growing shadow.

Now I don’t want to give away too much, but this series, so far, is amazing. I can’t wait to see what is next in store for Feyre in this upcoming sequel!

#3 The Fate of the Tearling by Erika Johansen

tumblr_inline_o0jloashYy1tqcgoq_400Now, if you have been following the Queen of the Tearling series by Erika Johansen you will know that the original release date of the third and final book, The Fate of the Tearling, was pushed back. It is now due for release on November 29th, 2016. (I know, that wait is too long! But I think we can all manage together…)

This novel is the third in a series centered around the story of a young woman named Kelsea– a princess who, in the first book, The Queen of the Tearling, finally claims her throne– her throne as the Queen of the fictional land known as the Tearling, that is. These books follow the life of Kelsea as she struggles to rule and provide for her deteriorating homeland. As the books continue, Kelsea learns more about the origin of her country and her family as well as the origin of the power within the Tear sapphire– a jewel she wears around her neck that has been passed down through the generations of her family.

Basically, this series is amazing. It is full of magic, political intrigue, and it has a kick-butt no-nonsense heroine. I can’t wait to get my hands on this concluding novel!

That is all I have for now! If you can’t tell from this list, I love Young Adult as well as Fantasy. Let me know what you think about these titles in the comments! Are you as excited as I am? Have you heard of these books before? Also, let me know what books you’re most eagerly anticipating in 2016 and why. I am always up for new recommendations and suggestions!

  1. OMG ACOMAF!! That’s one of my anticipated releases too! What’s your favorite character from the first book? Mine is Rhysand ❤ 😀

    1. It is going to be so good! Definitely Rhysand because he is just so darn intriguing! But of course Feyre is pretty kick-butt herself so… its hard to choose haha
